Dazzling, hilarious, fast-paced and introspective, Life and Other Deceptions is a new theater and magic show that is now playing in Studio City. Actor and magician, Steve Valentine is currently presenting his solo show at Two Roads Theatre.
Valentine’s lightning-fast prestidigitation defies description, proving that age-old saying ‘the hand is quicker than the eye.’ Years of honing his sleight-of-hand skills are on display in this exciting and compelling two-act show that deftly combines comedy with illusions and card tricks as well as injecting some personal storytelling.
Delighting and surprising us with numerous tricks and humorous tales, Valentine is a consummate performer who knows how to hold the rapt attention of the audience in the palms of his dextrous hands.

CHECK AVAILABILITY
One of THE most incredible Life and Magic shows we have EVER seen! Everybody in the place was completely blown away!! I would encourage every single person out there to check this show out before it’s gone.

What a truly incredible show Steve put on... and what a perfect, intimate venue! Ten feet from the stage and I couldn't believe what I was seeing... and what a blast to be able to share it with you,

We had such a great time on Friday at the show. It was so entertaining and the tricks were mind blowing. Loved the story following through the narrative of magic in Steves life. The nuance of the kitschy phases of magician stereotypes throughout the decades. I think it is so unique because as a magic fan I've never seen another "magic" show with a retrospective and personal narrative bridging the tricks. The show had such witty writing with emotional moments infused and nuanced monologue for that length of time, on point hilarious improv with the crowd interactions, and really phenomenal tricks. I am so glad you shared this awesome magic journey with the world ..which was also very heartwarming and emotional.

What a wonderful show! So much great magic (so little of it in the current repertoire) and such fascinating stories and vignettes, presented honestly, artfully and, thanks to Steve's consummate skills as an actor, very poignantly. What a show! This run won't last long so see it while you can!

Cannot even begin to express how impressed I am with my friend Steve Valentine show! Right out of the gate, he brilliantly sheds a humorous light on the idea of the "one man show". Then, he delivers a show that is so multi-talented, it feels like a 10 man show. Please, do yourself a favor and see "Life and Other Deceptions". And you're welcome.

Mary and I saw Steve Valentine perform his one-man-show "Life and Other Deceptions" tonight. I was deeply moved by the intimacy of the narrative thread outlining his career as an actor and magician. His gripping emotional journey was perfectly punctuated by his razor sharp wit, his impeccable timing, and his miraculous feats of legerdemain.
I felt the thrill and wonder that I knew as a child watching my first magic trick. I also felt a little closer to Steve at the end of this hilarious, joyous and sometimes poignant journey he shared with us tonight.
GO SEE THIS SHOW!!

Many thanks to Steve Valentine whom I saw in his one man show "Life and Other Deceptions" tonight. He shared his truth, his passion, his vulnerability, his sorrows, his triumphs, and his comedy. He made us laugh, cry, contemplate, feel, and amazed us. He was everything a magician and actor should be, a real person with extraordinary gifts. Magic is real and it lives in Steve Valentine.

Finally got to see my brilliant friend Steve Valentine's AMAZING one man show last night! It was honestly one of the best shows of any kind that I've seen in a LONG, long time. Created, envisioned and written by Steve and directed by the amazing Chipper Lowell, this was a show that hit hard on all levels. It was funny, powerful, mind boggling and devastating heart breaking. If you've ever experienced amazing highs and soul crushing blows in your life, career etc... this show will speak to you and resonate with you as it did with me. Steve is an amazing actor, story teller and one of the best magicians you'll ever see. And he blends all of these together perfectly as he takes you on a mind blowing journey of magic, pain and joy that turns the traditional one man show on it's ear. I'm so happy and proud to call both Steve and Chipper my friends, but I say this not as much out of friendship but more as someone who loves great art and great showmanship... DO NOT MISS THIS SHOW!! I think as it nears the end of its run it may almost be sold out, but try however you can to see it. I promise you, you are in for a rare treat!!

We just returned from experiencing extraordinary truth and magic, expressed with insightful humor and top notch illusion. Words simply can't convey the depth of our admiration and gratitude. We'll be counting the days until we can see Steve Valentine again soon. In the meantime, we HIGHLY recommend Life and Other Deceptions.

Steve Valentine's "Life and Other Deceptions" was a delight. You'll laugh, you'll cry, you'll see things that you will never be able to unsee! Beautiful, personal, confessional stroll through Steve's life and times, the highs to the lows to the end of the show with nods to his inspirations, Ronald McDonald, and even those British Python guys. Two thumbs up (and a tiny hand). Props to Chipper Lowell for his direction!…."

So it's been a hell of a night and morning. We spent the ninety minutes after the show sharing our love and enthusiasm with several friends at a bar up the street, all of us completely blown away by what we'd just experienced. Not just what we'd seen, though obviously the magic was stellar, but what Steve had made us FEEL. It was an honor and a privilege to be in the audience on a night when you gave so much of yourself and shared with us so much of your life's story. And this morning that beautiful feeling has continued, we spent it at a champagne brunch with friends who have all been convinced of the need to see this show and will hopefully be coming in the next few weeks. So many times this morning, Tess and I have stopped and reminded each other, "Magic is real." In fact, we wanted to share with you how often we heard that phrase afterward, it is the common refrain of the evening, the one-man show equivalent of the tune the audience leaves a musical humming. In fact, if you were to sell t-shirts in the lobby with that phrase on it, I'm convinced you would do quite well indeed, especially on the way out. And as Tess pointed out, "That's a hashtag!" Actually, print the hashtag on the t-shirt! Seriously, we lost track of how many audience members quoted it, and it's certainly the refrain that's resonated the strongest with us. We are convinced of its truth, and it's all your doing.

Last night we went to see Steve Valentine Life and other Deceptions directed by Chipper Lowell. Steve is an amazing Entertainer. When my Grandpa David was alive he saw Steve perform and last night it really felt like my Grandpa was with us. The Show Brought me to laughter , and tears, you could not help falling in Love , and the magic was top notch, and it reminded me of something my Grandpa told me when I was preparing a monologue, and trying to pick a piece. He told me " the best work is nether comedy , drama, or Romance it must have a little of it all. leave them laughing, crying, amazed, and in love. Well I experienced all of that last night and was baffled by his talent as a magician !!! Thank you so much I will never forget it!!!
